Having been kidnapped by Dr. Gala's robotic car, Dr. Ochanomizu is pursued by Atom, who then infiltrates President Hiller's Gorgonian Empire where he meets a robot by the name of Platinum. Dr. Gala, working on cloning humans under Hiller's orders, asks for Dr. Ochanomizu's assistance...
The original manga story, 'The Ghost Making Machine,' first appeared as a one-shot in the January 1957 issue of Monthly Shonen magazine. The A5 edition, volume 5 (November 1958), used the same title.

The serialized manga version featured Dr. Pavlov inviting Dr. Ochanomizu, Hitlin as Gorgonia's prime minister, and Brahms as Pavlov's clone in the ending. However, volume 5 changed Pavlov to Gala, Hitlin to Hiller, and omitted Brahms entirely.
Due to its short length, this episode was remade in the 181st episode, retaining the title 'Ghost Making Machine,' but with a redesigned Platinum character.
