The White Planet, a leading contender in the round-the-world Grand Prix race, is destroyed by a gang. Dr. Ochanomizu, consulted by the pilot Koichi Hoshino, suggests repairing it using Atom's electronic brain. However, the White Planet, participating in the race, is about to face further sabotage.
The original manga is "The Black Planet" published in the January 1963 New Year's special issue of the monthly "Shonen" magazine. In the anime, the name "Black Planet" was changed, and the manga was also retitled in the 10th volume of Kappa Comics published in October 1964.

The round-the-world Grand Prix race starts in Antarctica, passes through the Amazon River in South America, the Panama Canal in Central America, the Grand Canyon in North America, the Bering Strait, the Eurasian continent, and the Caucasus Mountains in the Middle East, and finishes in Cape Town, South Africa, in approximately 100 hours. The White Planet, which was piloted automatically for half of the race, had won the race for the past two years, but was sabotaged and destroyed by a gang just before its third race.
This episode appeared as the first repeat episode on January 11, 1964, the 55th episode overall. Some animation and filming retakes were done for this version.
